On December 8, 2025, officers with the Brooklyn Center Police Department responded to a fight located at Cub Foods on [ADDRESS REDACTED] 10 in the city of Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County. While enroute, the call was updated to a stabbing. Upon arriving, officers met with an adult male, Victim herein, who appeared to be bleeding from a wound to his chest. After Victim was able to calm down, he provided a statement to officers. Victim [NAME REDACTED] into Cub Foods and waiting to use the coin machine.
Victim [NAME REDACTED], later identified as EDWARD KENNETH COLLINS, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, was using the machine. Defendant appeared to be struggling to use the machine and taking a long time, so Victim [NAME REDACTED]. That appeared to make Defendant upset. Defendant completed his transaction and started to walk away from Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant suddenly turned around and started moving towards Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim [NAME REDACTED] at Defendant. After a brief encounter, Victim [NAME REDACTED], and Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been cut.
Victim was taken to the hospital, and the wound was closed with several sutures. A review of surveillance video showed the encounter between Defendant and Victim. The video showed Defendant walk away with unknown male appearing to escort him away from the area. Defendant turned and pushed the unknown male twice to get back near Victim. While he moved towards Victim, [NAME REDACTED] at his right waistline and retrieved a box cutter. Defendant continued to move towards Victim in an aggressive manner until he was within a couple feet of Victim.
Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant then swung at Victim [NAME REDACTED], and two cut marks are visible on Victim’s jacket. Several people quickly stepped in to separate Defendant and Victim. Defendant was taken into custody at the scene, and a box cutter was retrieved and placed into evidence. Defendant is currently in custody.
