On January 18, 2026, at approximately 0254 hours, on-patrol Officers observed a vehicle parked in a no- parking zone near the intersection of Lake St E and 15th Ave S in Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Officers activated their emergency lights and approached the vehicle. An Officer then made contact with the driver and sole occupant, identified as LAMAR LAMONT CRAIG, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. As the Officer made contact with Defendant, he observed a bag of marijuana in Defendant’s hand that was not in its original packaging.
The Officer then had Defendant exit the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, Officers observed in plain view in the rear of the vehicle a S&W M&P 15-22.22 caliber assault rifle. Officers removed the rifle from the vehicle and observed it to have a loaded magazine with a round in the chamber. Officers then ran a check on Defendant and discovered he was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Defendant was placed under arrest. Defendant is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to his prior convictions of a crime of violence, including: - 62-CR-11-8211 - 1st Degree Burglary - Convicted on 12/28/2011; - 27-CR-11-34801 - Simple Robbery - Convicted on 01/19/2012; and - 27-CR-12-21837 - Attempted 5th Degree Drug Sale - Convicted on 10/9/2012. Defendant has also previously been convicted for prohibited person in possession of a firearm in 2019 in court file 27-CR-18-27503. On December 4, 2025, Defendant was arrested for being in possession of a pistol.
Defendant was released pending charges. Defendant has since been charged for that incident. Defendant is currently in custody.
