At approximately 12:20 AM on April 18, 2026, the Carver County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Street East and County Road 10 in the City of Waconia, Carver County. The reporting party indicated two vehicles were involved, some parties were injured, and one of the drivers was possibly impaired. Deputy Stumpf spoke with a driver of one of the vehicles involved, identified to be Tre’ Amir Medlock- Sanders [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant. Defendant stated he was approaching the intersection from Sparrow Road and that the light turned yellow.
Defendant stated his brakes made a cranking noise and that he was unable to stop and went through the intersection on a red light. Deputy Stumpf noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from Defendant and that Defendant’s eyes were bloodshot and watery. Defendant’s performance on the HGN Test, the Walk and Turn Test, and the One-Leg Stand Test each indicated impairment. Defendant agreed to provide a preliminary breath sample, which resulted in a reading of.115. Defendant was placed under arrest. During a search incident to arrest Deputy Stumpf located a vape pen with a cannabis logo on it.
Deputies located a small container of Fireball Whiskey in Defendant’s vehicle. Defendant was transported to the Ridgeview Medical Center and Deputy Stumpf sought and obtained a search warrant for Defendant’s blood or urine. Defendant agreed to provide a blood sample, which has been sent to the Minnesota BCA for analysis. The other vehicle involved in the crash contained several individuals, all of whom suffered injuries to varying degrees. Notably, M. E. Suffered a C12 fracture and a fracture to his left collar bone.
Due to the number and nature of injuries to the other parties, additional testing was needed and no confirmation of the degree of their injuries is available at this time.
