Ricky Vernon Helgeson

Shortly after 12:19 A.M., on 3/9/2026, State Patrol Trooper, herein Victim, responded to a vehicle that was stuck adjacent to the roadway near Shingle Creek Parkway and Interstate 94, Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Driver, Ricky Vernon Helgeson, herein Defendant, was observed to be belligerent towards another State Trooper who was attempting to conduct a DWI investigation. Following poor performance on standardized FSTs, Defendant was informed that he was under arrest. Defendant said, “fuck that” and pulled away from the arresting officer.

Defendant swung his left arm towards Victim’s face. Victim [NAME REDACTED] attempt to gain control of Defendant. Defendant moved his head towards Victim’s left bicep arm area, attempting to bite Victim. Victim observed a white circular pattern on his left bicep in the area where Defendant attempted to bite Victim, [NAME REDACTED]. Victim felt Defendant’s teeth closing around his arm and pulled his arm away before Defendant succeeded in biting Victim. Defendant is currently in custody on the related DWI case.
