On February 19, 2026, at approximately 4:25 A.M., Minneapolis Police officers were dispatched to a domestic assault call at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Minneapolis, Hennepin County. In the 911 call, Victim reported to dispatchers that she was assaulted by her husband, who is also the father of her three young children, identified as DENNIS JOSE GODOY-CADENAS, Defendant, and that Defendant was still on site. Dispatchers could hear Defendant speaking with Victim in the background of the call. While on the phone, Victim [NAME REDACTED] was fleeing the scene and was able to provide a description of Defendant and the vehicle he was leaving in.
Upon arrival to the area, officers observed the vehicle Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle by turning on their squad lights, but Defendant sped up and fled in the vehicle. Officers chose not to pursue and instead continued to the scene. Officers took a statement from Victim, [NAME REDACTED] had gotten home from a long day of work around 1:00 A.M. She was very tired from work and wanted to sleep, but Defendant was drunk and began pressuring Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim [NAME REDACTED] did not want to, and Defendant got upset and accused Victim [NAME REDACTED] at work.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] from the situation because Defendant has a history of being violent and has also sexually assaulted her in the past. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in her children's bedroom. She reported Defendant followed her into the room and continued pressuring her for sex. Victim was in the bed where her four-year-old and three-year-old children were sleeping. Defendant got into the bed and began assaulting Victim and strangling her to force her to submit to sex. Victim reported that Defendant hit her hard on the chest and arm, got on top of her, strangled her, and forced his penis into Victim's vagina.
Victim was pushing Defendant away and telling him no. Defendant told Victim, "You will respect me, I am the man." Victim reported that her four-year-old woke up during the assault and she pleaded with Defendant to stop so he wouldn't see it, but Defendant continued on. The four-year-old began putting his hand between Defendant and Victim to try to stop the assault, but Defendant is big and strong. At this point, Victim gave in and Defendant ejaculated inside Victim. Victim went to get her baby a bottle and waited until it was safe to call for help.
A little after 4:00 A.M., she was able to get her phone and call police. Officers offered to bring Victim and her children to a safe place, but she wanted to remain in the home. Victim [NAME REDACTED] would seek a sexual assault examination on her own. Officers entered a KOPS alert for Defendant and his vehicle for his arrest. On February 20, at approximately 10:00 P.M., Victim called 911 again to report that Defendant had returned to the apartment and was trying to get in. Officers arrived and found Defendant hiding in the basement of the residence.
