On October 18, 2025, Edina Police Officers were advised two theft suspects had returned to the Louis Vuitton store in the Southdale Center, 2670 Southdale Center, Edina, Hennepin County by store employees and by a KOP alert on the suspect's vehicle. Officers were advised that the two suspects were suspected to have stolen over $11,000 since 2023 and had been returning to the store the past three Saturdays in a row and stolen additional merchandise. The two suspects were later identified as PHYLLIS ELAINE OSBY, Defendant Osby herein, and BREEA RANEE HUNTER, Defendant Hunter herein.
On October 18, the Defendants arrived at the Southdale center in a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Minnesota Plate RKS106 at 1811 hours. Officers followed the Defendants to their vehicle after leaving the Louis Vuitton store. At 1824 hours, the Defendant's entered the vehicle where Officers blocked it in. Defendant Hunter was the driver. Defendant Hunter had been identified as "Suspect 1" with black framed glasses in several prior thefts with the passenger in the vehicle as "Suspect 2," Defendant Osby.
Defendant Hunter had in her possession an item that was purchased on October 11, 2025 - a pair of earrings from the Louis Vuitton store. At the time of being stopped, both Defendants were wearing t-shirts and pants, in the prior thefts, both Defendants were reported to be wearing hijab clothing pieces. In plain view in the vehicle, Officers could see what appeared to be the hijab clothing that that both Defendant's had worn in prior thefts which included a plaid patterned hijab worn by Defendant Osby and a black and brown hijab worn by Defendant Hunter.
During the thefts, the Defendants concealed merchandise in the hijabs. Officers searched the vehicle after obtaining a search warrant where they located several documents in Defendant Hunter's name including paperwork, a Minnesota identification card, and insurance cards for the vehicle. The jeep registers to a J. R. Hunter. Defendant Hunter has been listed in a Bloomington theft report as the driver of the Jeep. Officers also located in the vehicle clothing with tags and security sensors still attached.
Officers confirmed with two stores, Alo Yoga and Lulu Lemon, that the clothing had been stolen from the store. Officers also located a receipt from North Face at the Mall of America for a purchase on October 16, 2025. The name on the receipt was "Salazar Alma." Officers reviewed the prior theft reports with the Defendants as suspects. On October 11, 2025, Officers responded to the Luis Vuitton store for a theft that occurred at approximately 1600 hours. Operations Specialist B. S. Stated that the suspects entered Luis Vuitton and shopped for approximately 30 minutes.
Defendant Hunter purchased a pair of earrings and provided customer information under "Salazar Alma" to the cashier. Officers learned that "Salazar Alma" was not Defendant Hunter's correct name and she was later correctly identified as Defendant Hunter. Defendant Osby stood directly behind Defendant Hunter as she made the purchase. When Officers stopped the Defendants, the 2 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 12/9/2025 earrings purchased were located in Defendant Hunter's possession.
