On 11/08/25 at approximately 2043 hours, officers were dispatched to a reported domestic assault that occurred at a residence in Moorhead, Clay County MN. Complainant indicated that her son was intoxicated, had assaulted her, and was refusing to giver her back her keys. Complainant was identified to be L. M. B., hereinafter referred to as Victim. Victim's son was identified to be JAMES LEE DUMONT [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter referred to as Defendant. Victim explained that the argument began earlier today after the Defendant ransacked her apartment and eaten a large amount of her food.
Victim [NAME REDACTED], and the Defendant left the apartment upset. Defendant returned several hours later a short time before the Victim called 911. Victim explained that the Defendant returned with a food item and told her she needed to eat it. Victim [NAME REDACTED] wasn't going to eat the food, to which the Defendant stated "you are going to eat this food, whether or not I have to shove it down your f*cking throat." Defendant grew more and more angry and continued to yell at her and advanced toward her with a a bladed stance and a hand cocked back.
Victim responded that he needed to leave or she would call police. Defendant responded by saying "if you call the cops I will beat the f*ck out of you." This scared the Victim [NAME REDACTED] has beaten her numerous times in the past and knew he was possible of causing her serious harm and injury. Victim recalled a prior instance several months ago when the Defendant held her down on the floor and punched her in the face several times. Victim is a 63-year-old woman who recently suffered a stroke.
Defendant also has a prior conviction for Simple Assault in ND casefile 09-2020-CR-01024 on 03/06/20. **This is NOT a DV Court matter.
