On December 4, 2025, at approximately 2346 hours, Officers observed a vehicle roll through a stop sign at the intersection of E 14th St and 10th Ave S in Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Officers conducted a stop of the vehicle based on this moving violation. Officers approached the vehicle on the driver’s side and passenger’s side. The driver of the vehicle was identified as LAMAR LAMONT CRAIG, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. The Officer that approached the vehicle on the passenger’s side observed in plain view a silver handgun on the floorboard behind the passenger’s seat.
Officers then asked Defendant and the passenger to exit the vehicle. Officers then conducted a background check on Defendant and discovered that he is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Defendant was then placed under arrest. Officers then removed the handgun from the vehicle and observed it to be a loaded Ruger LC9. As the Officer was packaging the handgun, Defendant excitedly uttered something akin to “I found it” and “it doesn’t even work.” Defendant is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to his prior convictions of a crime of violence, including: - 62-CR-11-8211 - 1st Degree Burglary - Convicted on 12/28/2011; - 27-CR-11-34801 - Simple Robbery - Convicted on 01/19/2012; and - 27-CR-12-21837 - Attempted 5th Degree Drug Sale - Convicted on 10/9/2012. Defendant has also previously been convicted for prohibited person in possession of a firearm in 2019 in court file 27-CR-18-27503. Defendant is currently in custody on a different matter.
A warrant is requested to ensure his appearance on this matter.
