On January 16, 2026, approximately around 2:51 P.M., Metro Transit Police Officers were watching live surveillance camera footage of the LRT Franklin Avenue Station in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, and observed an individual smoking tinfoil. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the individual. Officers later identified the adult male as NICK ADAM CHAPMAN [DOB REDACTED] "Defendant" herein. Routine records checks revealed the Defendant had an active felony arrest warrant from Beltrami County. Defendant was placed under arrest and searched.
Inside of the Defendant's pants pocket officers located a plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance. Defendant was transported to the Hennepin County Jail. Jail staff conducted a secondary search of the Defendant, and observed Defendant was wearing a second set of pants. Inside the second set of pants left pocket, jail staff located another baggie containing a white powdery substance. Jail staff also located a plastic baggie containing white powdery substance hidden inside Defendant's anus.
Officers collected the three clear baggies and field tested the contents. The white powdery substance from the first baggie field-tested positive for 0.40 grams of fentanyl. The white powdery substance from the second baggie field-tested positive for 1.98 grams of fentanyl. The white powdery substance from the third baggie field-tested positive for 1.07 grams of fentanyl. At present, Defendant is in custody.
