On or about January 2, 2026 Woodbury Police received a ALPR hit on a vehicle IL plate 90002FF, which had an active KOPS alert for fleeing out of Saint Paul. The hit placed the vehicle in the vicinity of Norma Lane and Hudson Road, Woodbury, Washington County. Officers ultimately responded to the scene and located the vehicle stopped in a Public Storage located just off Hudson Road. Officers attempted to make contact with the vehicle activating their emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle then reversed into Ofc.
Gulbranson's squad and attempted to drive away. Other Woodbury officers boxed in the vehicle and the driver and sole occupant LEWIS MARQUIS BALL [DOB REDACTED] (Defendant) was taken into custody. In the inventory search of the vehicle officers located several rubber bands and two cell phones. Officers reviewed surveillance footage which showed Defendant accessing storage [APT REDACTED]. Officers also spoke with storage unit Staff who recognized Defendant and officers learned Defendant often visited the storage unit.
Officers then used a K-9 on the storage unit, which alerted on [APT REDACTED], the canine did not alert on any other units. Officers executed a search warrant on the unit at which time they recovered 12 pounds or approximately 4,5552.95 grams of cocaine, along with approximately $20,000 in US currency.
