On 04-05-2026 at about 1904 hours, Ramsey County Deputies spotted a silver 2010 Ford Fusion (MN/ESJ570) parked in the Walmart parking lot at [ADDRESS REDACTED] E East in Vadnais Heights, Ramsey County. There was an active KOPS alert for the vehicle in relation to a theft on 04/02/2026 (CN: 26014089). Deputies boxed the vehicle in. There was a male driver and a female passenger. Deputies approached the vehicle and saw the female passenger, later identified as Samantha Louise TROTTER (DOB: 06-06- 1994), holding burnt tinfoil, a glass pipe, and a brown leather zip-up bag.
TROTTER was using a lighter to vaporize the substance in the pipe. The male driver was later identified as Tyler Hunter SCHOFIELD [DOB REDACTED]. In plain view in the vehicle, Deputies saw view several burnt pieces of tinfoil, several cut straws, and a glass pipe on the passenger floorboard. A K9 unit performed a sniff of the vehicle with a positive alert. TROTTER had at least one active felony warrant. During a search of her leather zip-up bag, Deputies found a small container containing a suspected controlled substance.
The substance later field tested positive for fentanyl with a net weight of.56 grams. During a post-Miranda interview, TROTTER admitted to using “up”; a street term for methamphetamine. During his post-Miranda interview, SCHOFIELD admitted that TROTTER was going to smoke methamphetamine and said he believed there were a couple grams of drugs in the vehicle. For purposes of Rule 6.02, TROTTER has at least one active case for 5th Degree Drugs (19HA-CR-24- 19).
