Scott Andrew James Kyles

On September 28, 2025, officers observed a blue Hyundai Sonata MN ZMX801 in the area of Chicago Avenue and Lake Street, in the City of Minneapolis, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota. Officers ran the license plate and learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen. Officers began to follow the vehicle, which started driving away at high speeds. After travelling approximately two blocks, the vehicle crashed and the driver began fleeing from the scene on foot. Officers arrested the driver and identified him as Scott Andrew James Kyles [DOB REDACTED]. Officers located two baggies containing suspected controlled substances in his pockets.

Officers observed that Kyles was swaying, speaking incoherently, and sweating profusely. Kyles told officers that he had swallowed “a rock of fentanyl” prior to crashing the vehicle. Officers obtained a warrant for a sample of Kyles’s blood, and BCA testing indicated that Kyles’s blood contained methamphetamine and amphetamine. Officers searched the vehicle and located a small cross-body bag that contained an identification card with Kyles’s information and photo and a baggie containing approximately 0.507 grams of a substance that contained methamphetamine.

Officers later learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen without keys by the owner earlier in the day on September 28, 2025. The owner of the vehicle stated that the vehicle had been taken between 11:00 P.M. On September 27, 2025, and 7:00 A.M. On September 28, 2025. The State respectfully requests that this complaint issue by warrant as Kyles has active warrants for failing to appear in court in unrelated matters.
