On or about December 8, 2025, Moorhead Police Department Officer E. Bozovsky responded to a report of a possible burglary in progress. Bozovsky was informed that an individual, believed to be DANIEL HERBERT SIGAN [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the Defendant, had recently been evicted from his apartment at 920 5th Ave. S. In Moorhead, located in Clay County, MN. This building contains multiple apartments. A trespass notice was left on the Defendant's apartment door by the Clay County Sheriff's office, notifying the Defendant was trespassed from the building as of December 8, 2025. Property management stated that they believed the Defendant had been removed from the building by law enforcement officers earlier in the day, and that the locks had already been changed.
Bozovsky arrived, and observed that both the trespass notice and eviction notice appeared to have been set on fire, and there was observable charring on both documents. Bozovsky observed that the door to the apartment was now unlocked. Law enforcement announced their presence at the door, and the Defendant answered. The defendant denied seeing the trespass notice. Officer Oldham additionally noticed that the door had pry marks on it, and appeared to have been forced open. Property management stated they believed the damage would cost approximately $60 to fix.
