On January 22, 2026, at approximately 12:59 A.M., Carlton County deputies pulled over a vehicle Sarah Charlotte Day, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein, was driving; after observing it roll through a stop sign and cross over the fog line. The stop location was within the city of Cloquet, county of Carlton, state of Minnesota. At the stop, deputies observed she had left her blinker running and had music playing very loud. Deputies observed these two behaviors and recognized them as common when a person is experiencing nervousness causing tunnel vision where they do not hear the blinker or the loud music.
Deputies met with the defendant and confirmed her identity and observed more indicators of extreme nervousness and observed Q-Tips in her vehicle. Deputies also discovered the defendant had 3 convictions for drug possession in MN. After some conversation, the defendant provided deputies with two pipes used for smoking methamphetamine. Deputies were assisted by a Cloquet officer who ran his drug detention K9 around the defendant’s car, and the K9 alerted to the detection of controlled substance odor on the vehicle.
During a later search, deputies located another pipe under the driver’s seat, and shards of methamphetamine on the driver’s seat, driver’s floorboard, passenger floorboard, and rear passenger floorboard. Several shards were collected with a gross field weight of.90 grams. When deputies explained they found methamphetamine in her vehicle, the defendant replied, “yeah, crumbs.” She also stated she didn’t realize how much was around the car. The shards of meth will be sent to the MN BCA for official testing.
