On 01/06/2026 at approximately 1943 hours, law enforcement officers with the Brooklyn Center Police Department responded to a report of a threat with a possible weapon at the Travelodge on James Circle N in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County. The suspect was subsequentially identified as DAMARIO DAVONTAE WRIGHT, [DOB REDACTED] (WRIGHT). Law enforcement spoke with the reporting party, an identified adult male (Victim) who is an employee at the location. WRIGHT was told not to return to the hotel and prior to the incident again told to leave.
WRIGHT left and then returned. Victim reported that when WRIGHT returned, WRIGHT held a knife, charged at Victim, and threatened to kill Victim. A female security member interjected and held WRIGHT back. Victim took the threat as credible. The incident is captured on surveillance and shows WRIGHT charge at Victim; WRIGHT appears to be holding a weapon, but the blade is retracted on the video. Law enforcement located WRIGHT in a nearby hotel room registered to another person. WRIGHT was hiding in the bathtub behind a curtain.
Law enforcement located a folding knife on WRIGHT's person and a sweatshirt matching the surveillance video. WRIGHT had drug paraphernalia on his person and three debit cards in another person's name. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in a line-up. WRIGHT did not cooperate with police. WRIGHT swore at officers and threatened to spit on them. WRIGHT pulled away and dropped his entire weight while being detained. WRIGHT is currently in custody for this offense.
