On 05/04/2026 at about 1024 hours, a Ramsey County Deputy responded to the Hub Hobby store [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Little Canada, Ramsey County for a theft report. Upon arrival, the Deputy spoke to the complainant, NM, who said that on 5/3/26 at about 1500 hours, two male suspects entered the store, each selected a remote control car, and then they ran out of the store through an emergency exit without paying for the merchandise. The theft was confirmed by CCTV footage and accounts provided by two employee witnesses.
The items stolen were: 1) a Notorius 4x4 6S BLX Brushless v6 Stunt Truck ($699) and 2) a Kraton 4x4 6S BLX Brushless v6 Speed truck ($699). Deputies distributed a crime alert with photos of the suspects. On 5/6/26, a Cottage Grove Crime Analyst tentatively identified one of the suspects as Joshua Brian DANIELS [DOB REDACTED]. DANIELS’ booking photos, including photos of his tattoos, appeared to match the suspect. On 5/7/26 Hub Hobby discovered another theft by DANIELS. CCTV footage showed that on 5/1/26 at 1521 hours, DANIELS entered the store wearing the same clothes he was wearing on 5/3/26. DANIELS selected an ARA 8608V6T4 1/8 Kraton 4x4 6s BLX Brushless V6 Speed Truck RTR Blue/Red remote controlled car and then exited through the emergency exit without paying for the merchandise; total loss $758.61. On 5/8/26, a Ramsey County Investigator reviewed still photos from CCTV video provided by a nearby business that showed DANIELS getting into a white older model GMC Yukon after the theft.
Through a law enforcement database, the Investigator learned that DANIELS had been stopped by Roseville Police in December 2025 driving a white Yukon that appeared to be a match for the vehicle. On 5/11/26, St. Paul Police arrested DANIELS on outstanding warrants. At the time, DANIELS was driving the white Yukon. On 5/12/26, the Ramsey County Investigator met with DANIELS at the LEC. In a post-Miranda interview, DANIELS admitted to stealing the remote control cars on 5/1/26 and 5/3/26. He said he exited the store through a fire exit on each occasion.
DANIELS said he planned to sell the cars on Facebook Market Place so he could buy methamphetamine. The value of the merchandise stolen by DANIELS totaled $1,517.22. DANIELS is currently in custody for unrelated matters. For purposes of Rule 6.
