On May 1, 2026 at approximately 2031 hours, Oakdale Police Department Officer Ashley was dispatched to the Walgreens located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] North in Oakdale, Washington County, Minnesota for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Dispatch advised that two black male suspects were observed shoplifting, exiting the store and leaving the area, driving toward Maplewood in a gray Audi (MN plate SYL***). Upon his arrival at the store, Officer Ashley made contact with the complainant, JT [DOB REDACTED]. JT said that another employee, CKO [DOB REDACTED] saw the two suspects place multiple cosmetic items into bags and requested that JT contact law enforcement.
Officer Ashley then spoke with CKO, who said he confronted the suspects about putting items in bags, and told them to stop shoplifting and leave the store. CKO said that the suspects denied shoplifting, continued placing merchandise into bags and ultimately exited the store with the items without paying. CKO confirmed they left the area in the gray Audi. Officer Ashley reviewed surveillance video with CKO, which showed the two male suspects removing a glass sliding panel, covering the cologne and perfume display, and then take several cologne and perfume items into bags before exiting the store.
CKO provided a receipt, showing the estimated value of the stolen merchandise was $2,363.71. Officer Ashley put a KOPS alert out on the suspect vehicle. At approximately 2350 hours on May 1, 2026, Officer Ashley received a follow-up call from Washington County dispatch, advising that the St. Louis Park Police Department had located the suspect vehicle. Officer Ashley made contact with St. Louis Park Police Department Officer Moore, who advised that he had located the vehicle, occupied by two black, male suspects, matching the descriptions provided.
He further advised that the stolen merchandise was located inside the vehicle. Officer Ashley met Officer Moore in Minneapolis to take custody of the suspects. Upon his arrival, he observed two male suspects seated in the back of Officer Moore's squad car, both wearing clothing consistent with the descriptions provided by Walgreens, and matching the description of the males seen on surveillance video. The first male exited Officer Moore's squad car, and upon exiting, stated spontaneously, "I know it was a lesson learned," and then "I know I f***ed up." That male was identified as DEVONAIRE SOLOVE MARTIN [DOB REDACTED]. The second male was identified as CARLOS LORENZEO- SHABREE MATHIS [DOB REDACTED]. Officer Ashley took over custody of the suspects and received the stolen merchandise that had been found in the suspect vehicle.
On May 2, Officer Ashley returned to Walgreens with the recovered merchandise and spoke with a store manager, who confirmed that numerous cologne and perfume items recovered from the suspect vehicle were items that had been stolen on May 1. Upon a more thorough inventory of the items, the manager confirmed that the total value of the items stolen was $3,358.58.
