On December 19, 2025, Maple Grove Police Officers responded to a check forgery report from Advent Lutheran Church in Maple Grove. The reporting party E. F., stated that on December 12, 2025, she on behalf of the church, mailed check number #22274, to the Central Minnesota Housing Partnership property manager in St. Augusta, Minnesota, in the amount of $400 to assist with a parishioner's child's housing. The check was never received. On December 19, 2025, Topline Federal Credit Union in Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County, alerted E. F. That JACOB ARNELL OLSON, Defendant herein, cashed check #22274 in the amount of $3,400.00. The Defendant then attempted to cash check #22284 in the amount of $3,700.00. Topline Federal Credit Union caught the second check and realized it was fraudulent.
The Defendant provided Topline Federal Credit Union with his driver's license. The Defendant matched the surveillance video of the transaction and the [DL# REDACTED]. Both checks had altered payee information to the Defendant's name as well as the memo line, and dollar amount. The second check had an altered check number. E. F. Confirmed that Advent Lutheran Church did not write the checks to the Defendant, did not know who he was, and did not have permission to cash their checks. The Defendant is out of custody.
