The following is based on your complainant’s review of the reports of other officers and your complainant’s own investigation: On November 5, 2025, at about 9:30pm, Ramsey County Emergency 911 received a call from the Holiday Gas Station at [ADDRESS REDACTED]., St. Paul, Ramsey County. The caller said that a woman had stolen merchandise and assaulted staff. St. Paul Police responded. As they neared the gas station, they saw a woman outside who matched the description provided and was carrying bag filled with merchandise.
As they spoke with her, she was aggressive and somewhat incoherent. She was later identified as the defendant, JA LEISHA LANAY TAYLOR ([DOB REDACTED]). An employee at the gas station, NLP ([DOB REDACTED]), said that the defendant frequently steals items from there. The employee said that on this night, the defendant had been placing merchandise into her bag. She said that she approached the defendant, who yelled at her aggressively and threatened her. She said that the defendant told her that the defendant owned the store and could take what she wanted.
She said that the defendant then hit her in the face. She said that the defendant then left with the merchandise. Officers observed and photographed a minor injury to NLP’s face from the assault. Surveillance video was recovered. It shows the defendant stealing items, being confronted by NLP and another employee, and then assaulting NLP. The defendant's criminal record includes at least two felony convictions, for Simple Robbery and Assault in the Fourth Degree, as well as multiple non-felony convictions for assault and burglary, among other offenses.
She faces pending charges in multiple cases for Burglary in the Third Degree, Burglary in the Fourth Degree, and Theft.
