On November 19, 2025, a University of Minnesota staff member, "Victim" herein, reported the theft of personal property from their office followed by unauthorized financial transactions to their personal credit cards, which had been in the office. Victim's office was located in a secure University of Minnesota school building on the 2000 block of 6th Street East in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Through investigation and review of surveillance video, University of Minnesota Police Department Officer(s) observed a male suspect enter the secured building shortly before the theft.
The male suspect entered the secure building by drafting off of staff member(s) entering the building. The suspect then entered Victim's office area at least twice before exiting the building shortly after. Shortly after on November 19, 2025, Victim received a notification that their credit card was being used at Walgreens located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] Southeast in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, for a $300 transaction. Video obtained from Walgreens for the time of the unauthorized transaction showed the same male suspect from earlier in the day at Victim's office.
An investigator familiar with Larry Lee Barnett [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein, identified Defendant as the suspect in both the University of Minnesota building video and the Walgreens video. The State requests this complaint issue as a warrant as Defendant is in custody on unrelated matters.
