On December 23, 2025, officers responded to a report of a theft in progress from TJ Maxx located at 8322 Highway 7, St. Louis Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The reporting party indicated that a male suspect was running past. The officers chased the suspect, later identified as DASHAWN SINTELL SCOTT, DEFENDANT herein. In a search incident to arrest, officers recovered items from TJ Maxx totaling $877.76. In addition, officers recovered pliers and a screwdriver from the DEFENDANT's pocket. Officers reviewed surveillance footage from TJ Maxx, which showed the DEFENDANT concealing his face with a grey face mask and concealing items within his backpack and a garbage bag before attempting to leave through the emergency exit.
The DEFENDANT is then seen exiting through the front door passing all points of purchase. The DEFENDANT did not have permission to take the items. The DEFENDANT was convicted in 2025 of gross misdemeanor theft in Court File No. ••-CR-••-••••. In a search incident to arrest, officers located drug paraphernalia on the DEFENDANT's person. The DEFENDANT initially indicated that he was experiencing an overdose but paramedics later determined that he did not require medical attention. The DEFENDANT is currently in custody.
