On January 2, 2026 at approximately 11:49am, Officer Beau Johnson responded to Mystic Lake Casino (MLC), which is located in Scott County, Minnesota, for a report of narcotic use. Dispatched advised MLC reported that a female was snorting drugs in a car that was parked in the ramp. Upon arrival at MLC, Officer Johnson was advised the suspect female, later identified as LAURA ROSE CLARK, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter referred to as Defendant, was now inside the Casino. MLC Security had already stopped Defendant and had her in a security office.
Officer Johnson viewed surveillance footage of the narcotic use and observed Defendant as the lone occupant in the vehicle. While sitting in the vehicle, Defendant can be seen holding open an "Altoids" tin while also holding a short straw. Officer Johnson observed one end of the straw up Defendant's nose and the other end was in the tin. Security advised that no one else had entered Defendant's vehicle between the time of the narcotic use and Officer arrival on scene. Officers searched the vehicle and located the "Altoids" tin.
Inside the tin was a small baggie which contained a clear crystallized substance. This substance tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 3.2g. This weight included the plastic baggie. During a Mirandized statement Defendant stated the vehicle was not hers and it belonged to a friend. Defendant confirmed the substance was methamphetamine.
