Complainant is Minnesota State Patrol Trooper Curtis Triggs. Complainant states that on June 8, 2025, at approximately 6:08am troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of Maple Grove Parkway in the city of Maple Grove, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival on scene, troopers observed a blue Toyota Camry facing the wrong way with heavy damage to the front and a semi-trailer with rear passenger side damage to the bottom drop down bumper. Officers made contact with AHMED ABDIRIZAK WARSAME [DOB REDACTED] and asked him what happend.
WARSAME advised he got off the road onto the ramp to the rest area and then the airbags hit him. WARSAME advised he was coming from Minneapolis and he had some Smirnoff Vodka yesterday morning. When speaking with WARSAME, troopers noted an odor of alcohol coming from him as well as observations of bloodshot eyes. Due to WARSAME's admission to drinking and driving and their observations, troopers requested WARSAME participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs). During HGN, WARSAME displayed lack of smooth pursuit in both eyes, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation in both eyes, and onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees in both eyes.
During the walk and turn test, troopers observed WARSAME lose balance during the instructional phase, he began before instructions were finished, he used his arms for balance, stepped off the line while walking, and did not walk heel to toe. Troopers requested WARSAME provide a PBT sample, which he agreed to give a gave a sample of.151 BAC. WARSAME was placed under arrest and was transported to the Hennepin County Jail where he was read a Breath Test Advisory. WARSAME provided a DMT sample of.15 BAC at 8:07am, within two hours of his driving conduct.
WARSAME has a qualified prior impaired driving incident within the last ten years with a impaired driving- related loss of license from a DMT refusal on October 24, 2020.
