On May 6, 2026, BCF [DOB REDACTED] called the Washington County Sheriff's Office to report that an item that had been stolen from one of his job sites was listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. BCF said that a Phoenix R-250 XL LGR dehumidifier has been missing from a job site since March 4, 2026. He was notified by an employee that the dehumidifier had been listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Deputy Eichman checked Facebook Marketplace and located the stolen dehumidifier and saw that it was listed by "Patrick Tolbert" in Minneapolis. "Patrick Tolbert" was later positively identified as PATRICK OSHEA TOLBERT [DOB REDACTED]. The photographs with the listing clearly depict the stolen item, with the same serial number and the company name stencil dyed onto the side of the unit.
The listing stated that the item was originally listed around March 17, 2026, shortly after the item went missing from the renovation site. The value of the dehumidifier is approximately $3,900.00. On May 8, 2026, detectives with the sheriff's office set up a meeting with Tolbert to "buy" the dehumidifier from him. Tolbert agreed to meet with the detectives at the Home Depot store parking lot in Woodbury, Washington County, Minnesota, to sell the item for $1,500.00. When Det. Bloomquist laid eyes on the dehumidifier, he was able to immediately confirm that it was the unit stolen from BCF's job site.
Tolbert was driven to the exchange site by another individual, in a vehicle that was not his. As Tolbert removed the item from the back of his vehicle, other law enforcement officers moved in and advised Tolbert that he was under arrest. He was handcuffed and later read a Miranda warning. Det. Bloomquist shared with Tolbert that he was aware that he had been arrested earlier in the week for possession of both cocaine and fentanyl, and that he was selling or dealing the substances. Tolbert said that he had taken the dehumidifier to sell as payment for narcotics.
A substance that later tested positive for fentanyl and weighed.7 grams was found in the vehicle that Tolbert and the driver arrived in for the meeting.
