On December 12, 2025, at approximately 2:14 am, St. Cloud Police responded to a crash at the intersection of 9th Avenue North and 12th Street North in the City of St. Cloud, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota. Upon arrival, law enforcement observed a vehicle stuck on the driver's side with significant damage. Inside the vehicle, was an individual later identified as Tyler Andrew McBride, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein. There was also an adult female passenger (A. S.). Police could smell strong alcohol odors from the vehicle when making contact with these occupants.
When the defendant was talking, his speech was slurred. The defendant was pinned against the driver's seat window with A. S. Sitting on top of him. Both occupants appeared unable to shift or move around, leading police to believe the defendant was the driver. After the parties were removed from the vehicle, law enforcement detected strong alcohol odors coming from the defendant. The defendant was also reportedly unstable on his feet. Law enforcement asked the defendant to perform field sobriety. The defendant then tried speaking in Spanish despite having communicated English up to that point.
He ultimately refused to perform field sobriety. When police later tried to take a statement about the crash, the defendant again tried speaking in Spanish and told police he could not understand. Police used a Spanish translation app, and the defendant told police he still could not understand. Police obtained a blood sample from the defendant for BCA testing. A. S. Told police that she and the defendant were drinking at a bar all night and that the defendant was the one driving the vehicle. A. S. Was transported to the hospital, where she received stitches to her right ankle.
Complainant has reason to believe and does believe that all of the above information is true and correct. The above facts constitute your complainant's basis for believing that the above-named defendant, on or about the 12th day of December, 2025, in the City of St. Cloud, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota, committed the offenses described herein.
