At approximately 3:55 A.M., on 3/11/2026, an Officer was dispatched to a crash notification at 58th St. West and Xerxes Avenue South, Edina, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officer observed a black Toyota Camry with heavy front-end damage parked facing northbound at the southwest corner of the intersection. Officer also observed a blue Jeep Cherokee with heavy damage parked in the middle of Xerxes Avenue South just south of the Toyota Camry. Officer observed that the driver of the Toyota Camry was still seated in the driver’s seat and was looking around the inside of the car.
The front airbags had been deployed. As Officer began opening the door and speaking with the driver, the driver attempted to exit the vehicle. Officer asked the driver if he was okay. The driver said he was okay and denied having any injuries. Officer observed the driver to have heavily slurred speech when he spoke and exhibit very slow motor movements. Officer identified the driver as Karl Augustus Fuhr, herein Defendant. Officer observed Defendant’s eyes to be glassy and Defendant’s breath to smell of alcohol.
Defendant said he had three or four shots of vodka sometime between midnight and 1:00 A.M. Officer conducted standardized field sobriety tests. Defendant performed the horizontal gaze nystagmus test consistent with being impaired by alcohol. Defendant performed the walk and turn test consistent with being impaired by alcohol. Defendant performed the One Leg Stand test consistent with being impaired by alcohol. Defendant blew a 0.177 on the PBT. Officer placed Defendant under arrest. At approximately 4:53 A.M., Officer read the MN Breath Test Advisory.
Defendant spoke over Officer during the advisory. Defendant told Officer he was going to take a nap and was fake snoring. Defendant refused to get up and refused to provide a breath sample. Throughout the process, Defendant yelled obscenities and vulgarities at Officer. When Defendant was less than a foot away from Officer, stepping in the direction of Officer, Officer placed his hands out to Defendant. Using his left shoulder, Defendant rammed Officer. Defendant thrashed his body and kicked at responding officers who attempted to get Defendant’s body under control.
Defendant attempted to remove Sergeant’s mace from its holster. Defendant was eventually secured in the back of the squad car. During transport to Hennepin County Jail, Defendant continued yelling vulgarities and threats to the transporting officers. Defendant banged his head on the back of the partition. Upon arrival at the Hennepin County Jail, while Transporting Officer 1, herein Victim, [NAME REDACTED] at the rear window of the squad car, Victim observed Defendant gesture as if going to spit out of the window at Victim.
As Defendant spit, Victim turned away and felt a spray of bodily fluids hit the left side of his neck and face. Warrant sought for public safety.
