Probable Cause
On March 17, 2026, law enforcement was dispatched to Taco Bell on University Ave in the City of Columbia Heights, Anoka County on the report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers observed two men who were grabbing each other by the clothes and a female seated in the corner with her head down. One of the men was identified as the Defendant herein, IVAN JAMEL WADE [DOB REDACTED]. The Defendant told officers that he wanted to take his wife and leave the business. Officers observed that his “wife” was bleeding from her nose and mouth.
Officers spoke with the female, Victim, and learned that she and the Defendant had been drinking that day and she had been sleeping in the business when the Defendant awoke her to leave and was angry that she didn’t react immediately and struck her in the face. An employee at the business told officers he observed the Defendant strike the victim in the face as well. The Defendant has two prior qualified convictions enhancing this matter to a felony, namely: 1. The Defendant was convicted of Fifth Degree Assault in 02-CR-18-8530 on October 8, 2019; 2. The Defendant was convicted of Gross Misdemeanor Fifth Degree Assault in 02-CR-22-1665 on September 12, 2023 The Defendant is also presently on probation for two cases involving felony violation of a domestic abuse no contact order involving the same victim [NAME REDACTED].
