Complainant is Maple Grove Police Department Detective Courtney Struffert. Complainant states that on July 23, 2025, officers responded to the Lowes in the city of Maple Grove, Hennepin County, Minnesota, regarding a report of a previous theft that occurred in their store on July 6, 2025. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Lowes loss prevention employee Jules Wesaw, who advised that a known male, RICHARD CALVIN JOHANN [DOB REDACTED], entered their store on July 6th, 2025, and filled a cart up with multiple items that had a total value of $459.30. JOHANN then left the store past all points of sale without paying for the items and got in a 2006 Mazda 6 bearing a MN license plate that was registered to him.
Wesaw provided Lowes loss prevention packet which included photographs and video surveillance of JOHANN during the theft. In the video surveillance, JOHANN is seen going to the Outdoor Power Equipment Department and selecting multiple items and placing them into the shopping cart. JOHANN is then seen going to the lawn and garden section and places a leaf blower and a lawn sprinkler in his cart. JOHANN then proceeds to walk past the assisted self checkout registers and last point of sale while making no attempt to pay for any of the selected merchandise.
