On February 23, 2023, Investigator Saw learned of a report involving a 12-year-old female. The juvenile’s grandmother and mother reported that she had been touched inappropriately by Jamie Lee Aubid, [DOB redacted]. It was reported that on February 21, 2026, the juvenile’s mother, N. H. And VICTIM, went to a concert at the Reif Center. Aubid, VICTIM’s boyfriend, remained at the residence located at 209 NE 8th Street, Grand Rapids, Itasca County to watch three children ranging in age from six (6) to twelve (12) years old.
The 12- year-old reported the following: that Aubid sent the two small girls to their rooms upstairs for the night. Aubid wanted her to come cuddle with him, which was unusual. At one point Aubid was kneeling on the floor in front of her and running his hands along the sides of her legs between her knees and hips, inside her basketball style shorts, but did not touch her buttocks or genitals. She also reported that Aubid attempted to kiss her on the lips but ended up kissing her on the chin. She reported that she went to the bathroom to text here mom to come and get her.
Investigators met with Aubid who denied any inappropriate touching of contact with the juvenile. Investigators then attempted to make contact with Aubid's girlfriend, VICTIM, but were unsuccessful. Investigator Ellis later received a return call from VICTIM while Investigator Saw was present. Investigator Saw noted that VICTIM sounded very stressed. When asked, VICTIM said she did not know any details regarding the incident between Aubid and the juvenile, but said that Aubid had gotten really physical and violent when she returned home from the concert on February 21, 2026. VICTIM said that she has moved her six year old daughter out of the home, wants to sell the house she shares with Aubid, and plans to leave the relationship.
VICTIM said that she has been in a relationship with Aubid since at least March of 2024. VICTIM was advised to seek legal and advocacy assistance, but she said she was hesitant because she was afraid of Aubid and was worried that it would make selling the house more difficult. The conversation was ended at that time. On February 23, 2026, around 6:00 P.M., Investigator Saw was informed of a call from dispatch regarding a sexual assault victim at the Deer River ER. It was learned that the victim was VICTIM. Investigator Saw and Sergeant Kortekaas responded.
Upon their arrival, VICTIM agreed to speak with them and provided the following information: Aubid’s consumption of alcohol has been increasing and he begins consuming tequila as soon as he wakes up in the morning. VICTIM said Aubid was black out drunk the evening of the concert (2/21/2026). VICTIM said she consumed two margaritas around lunch time and then three smaller glasses of blackberry wine. She said that their relationship has been strained and tumultuous. VICTIM said that when she returned home from the concert Aubid wanted to go to bed right away, despite typically being a night person.
