On 5/5/2026 at approximately 0156 hours, MPD officers responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED], Minneapolis, Hennepin County for a domestic assault. Officers were out at the address earlier in the night due to Victim SR texting her cousin about a fight with her boyfriend and the cousin calling 911. When officers arrived earlier, Victim [NAME REDACTED], Martz Lavell Gibson, Jr., [DOB REDACTED] (now referred to as "Defendant") were asleep and woken up by officers knocking on the door. Officers spoke with Victim [NAME REDACTED] stated her cousin is confusing an argument from yesterday with Defendant and called 911 for no reason.
Officers left at that time. Officers were then called back to the apartment by Victim SR. Upon arrival, officers observed Victim SR was shaken up and in tears yelling for officers to get Defendant out of the apartment. Officers separated the two parties and spoke with Victim SR, who is significantly smaller than Defendant. Victim SR stated after officers left the first time Defendant was furious with her and accused her of calling 911 on him. Victim [NAME REDACTED] told her if she doesn't file a complaint on officers for coming to the house that he would beat her.
Victim SR stated he then began jamming knives in the door frame of the front door but did not understand why he was doing that. Additionally, Victim [NAME REDACTED] attempted to force sex onto her. She explained that right before the officers arrived, Defendant had taken all his clothing off and tried to have unwanted intercourse with her. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in further detail. When officers arrived the second time Defendant was naked but wrapped in a blanket. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was afraid of Defendant and what he may do.
There is a long history of police responding to domestic calls between the parties, with Defendant as aggressor in each. Defendant has two additional pending felony domestic matters, one with Victim SR (27- CR-26-11446) and one with another female (••-CR-••-••••). Defendant has the following QDVROs: - Violate DANCO - 62CR235734 - 3/13/2024 - Violate DANCO - 62CR234013 - 8/30/2023 - Threats of Violence - 62CR227194 - 5/4/2023 Defendant is currently in custody at the Hennepin County Jail.
