On April 4, 2026, at approximately 9:21 PM, an officer with the Fridley Police Department was working on security detail at Walmart, [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE, city of Fridley, county of Anoka, when he was alerted by Loss Prevention that two individuals were not scanning all merchandise before placing it in a shopping bag at self-checkout. The two individuals passed all points of sale without attempting to pay for the merchandise and were stopped by Loss Prevention near the exit. The male verbally identified himself as DIAMOND LEE SAULS [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein.
Officers confirmed Defendant's identity in DVS and learned he had multiple active warrants. Defendant was placed under arrest for the warrants. After totaling the merchandise stolen, Loss Prevention elected not to pursue theft charges. During a search incident to arrest, officers located several items in Defendant's bag including a tin that contained a green powdery rock substance, a second tin that contained a white powdery substance, and several cut pills. The green powdery rock substance field tested positive for fentanyl and weighed 2.09 grams without packaging.
Defendant is in custody.
