On January 3, 2026, at about 8:49pm, Bloomington Police were dispatched to Kohl's, located at 7931 Southtown Ctr in Bloomington, Hennepin County, on a report of a theft. A loss prevention employee (LP) observed an individual, later identified as SARAH KORTO PYNE [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, grab multiple items and go into the changing room. Defendant put the items on and exited the room, having cut the tags off. She then grabbed multiple bags around the store and shoved merchandise into them.
She returned to the changing room, where she appeared to be smoking. LP reported that it "smelled really weird" in the changing room area. Defendant exited the changing room again and attempted to pay for several items in the checkout line with gift cards, but the cards were declined. Defendant then walked out the east doors of Kohl's with the unpaid- for merchandise. Officers apprehended Defendant outside and recovered the stolen merchandise, a bubble pipe containing burnt residue, and a folded green Post-It note containing a white crystal powder that later field-tested positive for 0.31 grams methamphetamine.
The merchandise was valued at $1,899.14 in total. Defendant is currently in custody at Hennepin County Jail.
