On April 4, 2026, Hopkins Police Department officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash involving an individual displaying a firearm. Said crash occurred at the intersection of 11th Avenue South and Westbrook Way in the city of Hopkins, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers spoke with BH, hereinafter Victim [NAME REDACTED]. It was reported by witnesses that a black Lincoln SUV was driving aggressively and was subsequently involved in a multicar collision. The driver of said SUV was later identified as MARQUES JAMES ROBERT BROWN- STEVENS, [DOB REDACTED]. Officers spoke with Victim at the scene of the crash learning that while Victim [NAME REDACTED], Defendant displayed a firearm from his driver side window, directing said display at Victim.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] from Defendant, thereby causing the aforementioned crash. Once the vehicles came to a stop after the crash, victim approached Defendant's vehicle. Upon approach, Victim [NAME REDACTED] into a backpack and pulled out a firearm, again displaying the weapon to Victim while stating "try me, try me." Based on statements from witnesses and Victim, Defendant was arrested for displaying a firearm in a manner that made Victim [NAME REDACTED] was going to be shot. Defendant is currently in custody.
