On about December 1, 2025, officers responded to a call about a knife at a business in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim [NAME REDACTED], both employees of the business. The victim [NAME REDACTED] said that a person later identified as Defendant Christian Robert Newman [DOB REDACTED] tried to leave the business without paying a $174 food bill. When Defendant was confronted about needing to pay for his meal, Defendant made a comment about terror coming down on the victim [NAME REDACTED]. The witness said that while he was talking to Defendant about needing to pay, Defendant came up behind the victim [NAME REDACTED] from the suspect and pulled out a knife and told the victim that victim needs to move out of his way or he is going to stick or poke him and then Defendant fled the scene.
The victim and witnesses described the knife as about two inches long. A show up was done with the victim who confirmed that the person officers had in custody, Defendant, was the person that pulled the knife on him and threatened him. A staff member also provided police a photo of Defendant before he fled and Defendant is seen brandishing a knife. When officers placed Defendant under arrest, they saw a knife sticking out of his pants. Defendant is currently in custody.
