On August 22, 2025, law enforcement received a flock alert for a stolen vehicle at Har Mar Mall in Roseville, Ramsey County, Minnesota. The vehicle was reported stolen during a burglary in St. Louis Park on August 19, 2025. An officer responded to the mall and located the stolen vehicle in the parking lot. There was a lone female, later identified as JASANI LEARA MCMORRIS – [DOB REDACTED], in the driver’s seat. Officers positioned their vehicles to suppress the stolen vehicle. Some officers approached the vehicle on foot, identified themselves as police, and gave MCMORRIS multiple commands to turn off the vehicle and bring her hands into view.
MCMORRIS put the vehicle in drive and began striking the marked squad vehicles until she was able to ram her way out of the vehicle suppression. MCMORRIS drove at a high rate of speed through the parking lot over several curbs then turned westbound on County Road B. MCMORRIS crossed over a median curb and sideswiped another vehicle, which caused heavy front-end damage to the other vehicle. MCMORRIS ultimately crashed after the stolen vehicle became disabled. MCMORRIS fled on foot but was apprehended after a foot pursuit.
Following a Miranda advisory, MCMORRIS said she got the vehicle from her friend “Kamal” the previous night in St. Louis Park. MCMORRIS said she believed the vehicle could be stolen because “Kamal” was acting suspicious. When asked why she fled from police, MCMORRIS stated that it was because they were arresting her for being in a stolen vehicle.
