On January 23, 2026, law enforcement was dispatched to the report of a shooting on Johnston Street NE in the City of Columbia Heights, Anoka County. Upon arrival, officers located and detained a male identified as CAMRON LAMAR HALL [DOB REDACTED], who admitting to having just shot his brother-in-law. A firearm was located on the Defendant and collected. The victim, referred to herein as Victim A, was located on a couch in the living room. Victim A was bleeding from his legs and emergency medical care was provided to him prior to his transport to the hospital.
A large pool of blood and two shell casings were located in a nearby bedroom. Victim A told officers that he has been with the Defendant's sister for 15 years and they had a child [NAME REDACTED]. Victim A reported he arrived at the location to collect clothing for his child [NAME REDACTED] into an argument with his child's mother. The Defendant then interjected in the argument and pulled out a gun and shot Victim A twice, once in each leg. Law enforcement took a mirandized statement from the Defendant who admitted to shooting Victim A twice.
The Defendant asserted that Victim A and his sister had been arguing and he interjected. He told law enforcement that Victim A put his hand in his face, and he responded by shooting him. The Defendant asserted that he thought he missed the first time he shot Victim A because he didn't react, so he shot him again in the other leg. Officers learned that the Defendant's sister, LQH, was present and witnessed the shooting, as did the joint child of LQH and Victim A. LQH confirmed that she had been arguing with Victim A, that the Defendant intervened and ultimately shot Victim A.
