August 2025, 2700 block of Laport Drive-charged in this complaint On August 17, 2025, a residential burglary was reported by homeowners LNF and SFS on the 2700 block of Laport Drive, Mounds View, County of Ramsey. LNF and SFS said they were out of town over the weekend. LNF and SFS said they arrived at the residence to pick up a package form the front step and to check the house. When they entered the house, the house was in disarray and appeared burglarized. They exited the house and called police.
Officers responded, cleared the house, and found no one inside. It appeared suspect entered the residence through the garage door as there was forced entry on the side door of the garage into the basement. There were several footprints located on the door that was forced open. The word “Levi” was clearly visible in the print. The screen on the laundry room window had been cut and there was a screen that was damaged and removed from a window on the deck. A shovel was in the living room on the couch.
The homeowner said the shovel was out of place and is usually in their garage. The shovel was sent to the BCA for analysis. The BCA located a major male DNA profile on the shovel did not match either homeowner. A Citizens watch, Xbox One and controllers, two laptop computers, and possibly other items were missing from the home. October 10, 2025 1400 block of Red Oak Drive, Mounds View-case charged in ••-CR-••-••••, sentencing scheduled March 6, 2026 On October 10, 2025, at approximately 2:32 P.M., Mounds View Officers were dispatched to the 8400 block of Red Oak Drive, Mounds View, County of Ramsey, on a burglary in progress.
The homeowner- SMN- said she had been away from her home for about one week- from October 3-10, 2025. She returned at 8 A.M., left the residence at 10:00 A.M. To go to the gym and grocery store. She went to her neighbor’s house to pick up packages she received while she was gone. When she returned to her residence, she saw a male walking around the north end of her house. Jewelry-two diamond earrings, several watches; a Glock 19 firearm; three designer bags, perfumes, and a blue Comcast or Xfinity bag were missing.
SMN said a safe was missing from the office. Officers from different agencies searched for the suspect. At approximately 3:53 P.M., State Trooper Caldwell located a male matching the suspect description standing near [ADDRESS REDACTED]. This address is approximately one city block away from SMN’s home on Red Oak Drive. Trooper Caldwell took the male into custody-later identified KEVIN CORTEZ JONES, [DOB REDACTED]. JONES said that he was holding the bags for someone else. Mounds View Officers located two duffel bags sitting on the bench of the address near the arrest location.
SH- said JONES had two bags in his hands, the same bags that were found on the bench. SH said JONES put the bags down on the bench and backed up when he saw police. Both bags matched the description given by SMN. SMN positively identified JONES as the same male she saw in her yard carrying the two bags. The bags were searched. SMN’s stolen Glock 19 handgun, jewelry, and other personal items were in the bags. The 2 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 12/3/2025 secure safe was also in the bag.
