On November 4, 2025 at approximately 3:18 AM, Ofc. Bredehoft of the Rochester Police Department responded to a report of domestic disturbance on the 2700 block of 56th Street NW, Rochester. On arrival, Bredehoft encountered a female adult, fully identified in police reports and hereinafter referred to as Victim, who stated that defendant herein Amanda Jane Hegna [DOB REDACTED] had physically assaulted her after Defendant accused her of stealing money. Victim stated that defendant made the accusation, then told her to leave the residence.
Victim is Defendant’s mother. Victim [NAME REDACTED] on the front steps with her phone and purse waiting for a ride. She stated that defendant forcibly took Victim’s phone and purse from her person, ripping them out of her hands. Defendant then locked Victim outside. Defendant stated that her grandson, a juvenile male hereinafter referred to as Witness 1, let her back in the residence. She stated that defendant accused her of stealing again, and had gone through her purse and removed mail. Victim [NAME REDACTED], once she was back in the residence, defendant physically assaulted her by pulling her hair, hitting her on the head, and pushing her to the floor.
She was hit on the head multiple times. Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant stated that her mother, Victim, had taken $12,000 from her, that she was awoken by Victim searching Defendant’s person for defendant’s phone, and that Victim had been looking for alcohol. Defendant admitted to taking Victim’s phone, and stated that she had pushed her mother off of her, and denied that she struck Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Witness 1 reported that he was asleep when he heard yelling between Victim [NAME REDACTED]. He stated that he asked them to quiet down and resolve the issue in the morning.
He stated that he saw the situation become physical when he stood in the hallway, and partially saw and heard his mother, defendant, hitting Victim. He stated that after the strikes, he saw Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Witness 1 stated that Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been drinking “a lot” of alcohol. Officers noted multiple empty 1.75L Bottles of vodka lying throughout the bedroom that Defendant was in, including one half full bottle laying in the bed. Defendant was convicted of 5th Degree Assault in violation of Minn.
Stat. § 609.224.1(1) on 09/17/2018 PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
