On March 10, 2026, at approximately 9:51 P.M., Saint Paul Officers responded to a domestic report on the 500 block of Saint Peter Street, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey. When Officer Dunagan arrived, he saw a male (later identified as the suspect GERELL BEEPER WRIGHT, [DOB REDACTED]) standing in front of the elevator in the lobby of the apartment building. WRIGHT tried to leave, but was told he could not. WRIGHT said he and his child’s mother were involved in an argument in the morning. Officers went to the 4th floor with WRIGHT. When the door was opened, WRIGHT went to the door and asked ARH’s mother if ARH called police on him.
Officer Fritz tried to separate WRIGHT from the doorway. WRIGHT continued to speak into the apartment to ARH and asked if she called police on him. Officer Dunagan met ARH in her bedroom. ARH had a scratch mark on the middle of her neck and a bruise on her right leg. She said WRIGHT caused the injuries on March 8th when he hit and strangled her. ARH said she and WRIGHT share a child in common and they have dated for approximately two years. The assault happened on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at approximately 6:00 A.M. In the morning.
They were in her bedroom when WRIGHT received a phone call from his cousin. She confronted him on why his cousin called so early in the morning. WRIGHT became upset and told her not to tell him what to do as a man. They argued for a few minutes. ARH was seated on the bed to WRIGHT’s left side. WRIGHT slapped her on the left side of her face. He grabbed her by the neck, took her to the floor by the neck, and choked her until she went unconscious. She gained consciousness to WRIGHT punching her on her body approximately four to five times, primarily on her legs.
She did not fight back and told him to “stop.” After, WRIGHT left the residence. WRIGHT returned to the apartment on the night of March 9th. WRIGHT previously stayed at the apartment, but was kicked out for two or three weeks. On the morning of March 10th, she and WRIGHT got into another argument. WRIGHT called her all day. After she said she wanted to end the relationship over the phone, he told her he would smack her in the face and said, “I’m finna come show you something; I’m on the way to hurt you.” ARH said WRIGHT strangled her with two hands, and said, “I hate you” as he strangled her.
She was lightheaded, kind of saw stars, had slight buzzing/ringing in her ears, was not able to speak or scream, lost consciousness for a few seconds, and urinated. She thought she was “gonna die.’ ARH had a small red mark under her left eye, a scratch across the middle front of the neck approximately three inches in length, a bruise on her front right thigh and a scratch in the middle of the bruise, a red mark on her right knee, and a small bruise under her right knee. WRIGHT said he and ARH argued, but nothing physical happened.
