On July 12, 2024, S. S. Made a report in person to law enforcement while at a Walmart located at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Roseville, Ramsey County, MN. S. S. Reported that she had been involved in a collision on July 2, 2024 and was a bit shaken up afterwards, at some point that day she misplaced her phone. She remembered bringing her phone out at the front counter of the Norwood Inn in Roseville when a male approached her and asked if she needed help. She was unsure if she left her phone on the counter.
A few days later, S. S. Called her cellphone and a male answer. The male wanted her to pay him cash in order to return S. S.'s phone to her. She did not have cash to pay and was unable to come up with an arrangement to retrieve her phone. S. S. Was able to login to the "Find My Phone" application and discovered her phone was in the area of Walmart about a week ago. S. S. Believed whoever had it had possibly deposited it in the EcoATM inside Walmart. Further investigation revealed that the phone was sold to EcoATM located in Walmart, on July 6, 2024, and the seller of the phone was JASON JAROME LOPEZ [DOB REDACTED]. EcoATM provided a copy of the transaction report and confirmed the serial numbers matched.
LOPEZ was verified by MN ID and kiosk image. S. S. Did not know LOPEZ and he did not have her permission to have or sell her cellphone. The value of the phone is listed at $1,100. This case was referred for pre-charge diversion, however, Justice Point was unable to make contact with LOPEZ.
