On December 26, 2025, at approximately 11:55 PM, Deputy Sedarski of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a residence in Stewartville, Olmsted County, Minnesota, on a report of an assault. Once on scene, Deputy Sedarski spoke with Victim- an adult female fully identified in police reports. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had got into an argument with her fiance Daniel Ramos ([DOB REDACTED]), Defendant herein. The two had been going to bars as part of a family birthday. Once the two got to their residence, Defendant threw car keys at Victim, [NAME REDACTED] in the back.
Defendant was yelling at Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim decided to go to bed. While in the bedroom Defendant got on top of Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim tried to kick Defendant off of her. Defendant choked Victim to the point that she could not breathe which lasted an estimated 3 to 5 seconds. Victim was able to push Defendant off, but he came back 3 to 4 more times strangling Victim. Each time Victim [NAME REDACTED]. The last time Defendant strangled Victim [NAME REDACTED] on the right side of her jaw.
Defendant got off the bed and unsheathed a knife about 5 inches long and held it over his head. Defendant said something similar to "you stupid b****, you deserve to die." Defendant eventually put the knife down. Victim attempted to leave the bedroom, but Defendant tried blocking her in. Victim was able to leave and make a call to get picked up. Defendant left the scene. Defendant was located in Mower County and was transported to the Olmsted County ADC by Deputy Wiley. Deputy Nelson interviewed Defendant.
Defendant said he and Victim were bar-hopping and he had too much to drink. Defendant said he "lost it" when he got home. Defendant denied hitting Victim, but admitted to grabbing her by the throat. Defendant also admitted to grabbing a dagger, but said he pointed it at himself. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
