On May 16, 2026, at approximately 6:00 A.M., Richfield police responded to an apartment in the 900 block of 78th Street, Richfield, Hennepin County, on a report that the caller’s 7-year-old daughter (born in September 2018), Victim herein, woke up with an adult male in her bed. Upon arrival officers spoke to Victim’s mother, A. L. A. L. Stated Victim woke her up saying A. L.’s friend, WILLIAM HENRY HALL (3/16/98), Defendant herein, had been in her bedroom with his pants down and had touched her. A. L. Stated she’s known Defendant for a few years, and he had spent the night at her apartment in the past.
On 5/15/26, the previous night, Defendant came to her apartment to go to a party with her and her partner, M. A. A. L. Took Victim to stay with a neighbor while they went out. A. L., M. A., and Defendant returned home from the party around 3:00 A.M. On 5/16/26, and she let them into the apartment while she went and got Victim. When she returned, Victim was sent to her own room and A. L. Found Defendant “passed out” on her bed. A. L. Woke up Defendant and sent him to sleep on the couch. Defendant got up and lay on the couch and A. L. And M. A. Got into A. L.’s bed and went to sleep.
At approximately 5:50 A.M., A. L. Was woken up by being touched on her vagina. She stated she initially thought it could have been M. A., but that M. A. Wouldn’t do that. She stated she was sleepy and pushed the hand away, then she more fully woke up and noticed Defendant laying next to her with his arm over her. She then saw Victim standing on the opposite side of the bed. Victim then told her that Defendant was just in her bed, that he had his pants down, and that he “put spit on his hand and put it in my private parts.” A. L. Told Defendant to leave and confronted him about being in Victim’s room as he gathered his belongings.
Defendant stated he did not remember being in her room and kept repeating “I don’t even play like that.” Defendant then left. Officers located Defendant nearby and placed him under arrest. Defendant was transported to the Richfield Police Department where he provided a post-Miranda statement. Defendant stated he met up with A. L. And M. A. At A. L.’s apartment and they went to a friend’s house to drink. While at the friend’s house he consumed a water bottle full of liquor and two Cutwater alcoholic beverages.
They returned to A. L.’s apartment around 5:00 A.M. And A. L. Requested he lay in her bed to sober up. Defendant stated he did not recall much from when they returned to the apartment but denied ever being in Victim’s bed. When confronted with the allegations, Defendant stated he “wouldn’t do that.” Defendant initially stated that he woke up in the morning and told A. L. He was leaving and she didn’t seem upset, but later stated A. L. Was angry at him for “rubbing up against” her while they were sleeping.
