On Sunday, January 18, 2026, at approximately 2:49 A.M., officers from the Rochester Police Department responded to an open 911 call in the 600 block of West Center Street, City of Rochester, County of Olmsted, State of Minnesota. Upon arrival, Ofc. Kolb met with an adult female (hereinafter "Victim"). Victim [NAME REDACTED], was speaking very fast, had blood on her fingers and had a streak of blood on her forehead. According to Victim, NEVELS has a history of methamphetamine and heroin use, and Victim believed NEVELS to be using on January 17-18. Victim [NAME REDACTED] has been attempting to move into her apartment without her consent and has been increasingly controlling and aggressive.
Victim stated that she clocked out of work at 12:25 A.M. (approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes earlier). Victim [NAME REDACTED], COREY WAYNE NEVELS [DOB REDACTED], to walk her home because she did not feel safe. During the walk, NEVELS acted erratically, and ranted and rambled nonsense. Once they got to Victim's residence, she asked NEVELS to leave her alone so she could relax and watch a movie. NEVELS began ranting again and getting angry about trivial things. NEVELS threw food at Victim. NEVELS then ran at her and lifted his hand to her throat and jabbed her.
NEVELS was trying to grab her throat, but Victim was able to move and not allow that. NEVELS pushed Victim to the floor and grabbed Victim's wrist to keep her from getting her phone. Eventually, Victim got her phone back and NEVELS ran out of the apartment. NEVELS was convicted of Felony Assault in the Fifth Degree in Olmsted County District Court File No. 55- CR-23-4389 on February 28, 2024. NEVELS was convicted of Felony Assault in the Fourth Degree in Olmsted County District Court File No. ••-CR-••-•••• on Nov. 19, 2020. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had previously assaulted her during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, resulting in injuries to her temple, face, and ear.
In that matter, NEVELS was convicted Felony Domestic Assault in Olmsted County District Court File No. ••-CR-••-•••• on Nov. 19, 2020. NEVELS was convicted of Gross Misd. Assault in the Fifth Degree in Olmsted County District Court File No. ••-CR-••-•••• on Nov. 19, 2020. NEVELS was convicted of Gross Misd.
