On December 31, 2025, at approximately 11:09 P.M., officers with the Faribault Police Department responded to a call from dispatch for follow up regarding a missing person. Dispatch received information from Witness 1 that Juvenile Female, reported missing out of Steele County, was with RODRIGO RAUL DELUNA JR. [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein, in Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota. Officers arrived at the residence and were unable to make contact with defendant. Officers were able to reach defendant’s mother, S. S. C., who stated that on December 18, 2025, defendant requested to use S. S. C.’s CashApp to send money to Juvenile Female.
S. S. C. Was unsure if defendant was currently with Juvenile Female. Sergeant Gramling with the Faribault Police Department sent a text message to defendant stating that officers were aware Juvenile Female was with him. Sergeant Gramling informed defendant that Juvenile Female was a missing person from Steele County. Sergeant Gramling requested defendant drop Juvenile Female off somewhere public and officers will pick her up, defendant can just drive away. Defendant denied knowing where Juvenile Female was located.
On January 1, 2026, at approximately 1:55 A.M., officers responded to a call from dispatch for a domestic disturbance involving defendant and Juvenile Female. The reporting party stated they were on a video call with Juvenile Female when defendant woke up and was angry that he found out Juvenile Female had been listed as a missing person. The reporting party told officers they saw defendant throw a beer bottle at Juvenile Female’s face. The reporting party also stated they caught a glimpse of defendant hitting Juvenile Female’s face through the video call.
Later that morning, at approximately 9:30 A.M., detectives believed they had located defendant and Juvenile Female at a residence in the 1400 block of Hullet Ave, Faribault and they were soon headed to a residence on 3rd Street NW, Faribault. Officers arrived to surveil the area. They observed an adult male and a juvenile female exit the residence and enter the rear seat of a Ford Escape. Officers initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle near the intersection of Central Ave S and 3rd Street NW in Faribault.
Officers recovered missing Juvenile Female and placed defendant under arrest. Defendant was compliant until reaching the rear door of the patrol car. Defendant refused to get into the back seat and began actively resisting officers by using his body to push himself out of the vehicle, twisting, and trying to get away from officers. As Officer Ikonitski secured defendant in the back of the squad, defendant kicked Officer Ikonitski twice in the face. Officers took photographs of the sole marks on Officer Ikonitski’s face.
While defendant was getting booked into the jail, another officer heard defendant state that he kicked Officer Ikonitski in the face on purpose. Juvenile Female was transported to the Faribault Police Department and briefly spoke with officers. Juvenile Female neither confirmed nor denied the assault.
