On February 3, 2026, at 0802 hours, Ramsey County deputies responded to the 800 block of Martha Lake Ct., Shoreview, Ramsey County, on a report of a domestic assault. Deputies met AEM, [DOB REDACTED], at her neighbor’s were she ran to call for help. She said that her husband, Pavel Aleksandorvich Montik, [DOB REDACTED], was stressed about work. He “snapped” that morning. She said that she was holding their 10-month daughter during the incident. She said that she is currently pregnant. Montik was angry at her and pushed her to the ground.
He used his legs to pin her down. They were over her neck, and she had difficulty breathing. He said, “Are you ready to die?” He let her off the ground. She sat in a chair. He slapped her repeatedly in the face and head with an open hand. He put his thumbs in her mouth, stretching it and causing it to bleed. He grabbed her around the throat with his hand and restricted her breathing. He then smashed her cell phone. She attempted to run but he grabbed her by the sweatshirt and pulled her back. He put her in a chokehold and restricted her breathing again.
He pushed her head back into the kitchen cabinets. She broke free and ran downstairs to the neighbor for help. She said that he was arrested for domestic assault in the past and he strangled her during that incident. Deputies observed injuries to AEM’s mouth and lips. Deputies arrested Montik at the scene. He had blood on his sweatshirt. He said they only argued and nothing physical happened. Deputies located AEM’s phone in the kitchen trash can. It was bent with a broken screen. Pavel has a prior conviction for Domestic Assault (m) in 02CR164027. AEM was the victim.
The case was originally charged as Domestic Assault by Strangulation.
