On May 10, 2026, at approximately 1:44 A.M., police responded to 6XX Chatsworth Street, St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota. The caller reported that her child’s father attacked her from behind, and she was cut by the male with a pair of kitchen scissors. Upon arrival, police met with the complainant, QK-CBH-W – [DOB redacted], who was holding a towel on her left forearm with blood running down her arm. QK-CBH-W was crying and visibly shaking, and her face appeared to be reddened. Police observed a lot of blood on the floor in the main room that trailed into the kitchen where there was a large amount of blood near the dining table.
QK-CBH-W told police that the father of her six month old baby, RODNEY LEGGETT – [DOB redacted], flew in from New Orleans that day and was spending time with her. LEGGETT had the child with him down in New Orleans for the previous month. QK-CBH-W reported that she and LEGGETT are not together, she does not want to be with him, and she told him that multiple times. QK-CBH-W advised that she picked LEGGETT and the baby up from the airport around 8:00 P.M. On May 9, and they went to her mother’s house.
QK-CBH-W reported that they were drinking a bit and made some food. While sitting at the dining room table, QK-CBH-W said that LEGGETT took her plate from her. QK-CBH-W reported that LEGGETT previously grabbed her food before she was done eating and threw it away saying that he was trying to help her and made comments about the weight she gained from pregnancy. After LEGGETT took her plate, QK-CBH-W said she put the baby down and tried to end the night. QK- CBH-W stated that LEGGETT got upset and argued with her.
LEGGETT made a comment about her leaving then QK-CBH-W told LEGGETT that it was her place, and he could leave. As he was leaving, QK- CBH-W reported that she observed his gray suitcase was still there, so she kicked it toward the stairs so it could roll towards him. When she turned around, QK-CBH-W said LEGGETT tackled her from behind. While they were on the ground, QK-CBH-W saw some kitchen scissors, so she grabbed them and chased after him. QK-CBH-W stated that LEGGETT collided with her, yelled at her asking if she was going to stab him, then started punching her in the face.
Eventually, QK-CBH-W said LEGGETT took the scissors out of her hand and pushed her back down on the ground next to the dining table. QK-CBH-W reported that LEGGETT held her down by her ponytail with his left hand and held the scissors in his right hand. QK- CBH-W said LEGGETT continued yelling at her and asking if he wanted him to stab her. Eventually, QK- CBH-W stated that LEGGETT got off of her and ran out of the apartment. QK-CBH-W told police that she was unsure how or when she got cut by the scissors.
Police observed a bleeding laceration on QK-CBH- W’s forearm. At the hospital, QK-CBH-W was seen in the Emergency Department and underwent an Intimate Partner Violence examination. According to the medical records, QK-CBH-W had a 4.5 cm linear laceration on her left forearm that required 9 sutures to close. QK-CBH-W also had a 2 cm linear laceration above her right eye. In addition, QK-CBH-W had a questionable nondisplaced fracture of the right nasal bone. In a follow-up statement, QK-CBH-W told the investigator that LEGGETT moved to New Orleans shortly after she gave birth.
