The reports were all similar in nature and identified MELISSA ANN HAMLIN, [DOB REDACTED], the above-named defendant, and T. J. H., [DOB REDACTED], as suspects. Coborn’s Asset Protection reviewed security camera footage to determine how the Defendant and T. J. H. Stole merchandise from the store. They determined that on each incident date, the Defendant and T. J. H. Arrived at Coborn’s in their car and parked in the parking lot. They then entered the store through the Little Duke’s entrance, procured a cart, and started shopping.
After placing multiple items in their cart, they would leave through the Little Duke’s entrance with their selected merchandise and bypass all registers. They took the cart outside and put the unpaid merchandise into the car. At no point did they receive permission to leave the store without paying for their times. Security camera footage also revealed that, on other occasions, while T. J. H. Loaded the unpaid merchandise into the car, the Defendant would go back into the store. She would shop a bit more and then go through check-out to pay for those items.
Then, she would exit the store, return to the car, and leave with T. J. H. And the unpaid merchandise. On August 31, 2024, Officer Scharber made contact with the Defendant and T. J. H. He asked them about the shoplifting incidents, and they both admitted to stealing merchandise. A review of the security footage shows that between June 30, 2024, and July 28, 2024, the Defendant and T. J. H. Went to Coborn’s 16 times and stole a total of a total of $1,392.11 in merchandise: 1. 06/30/24: $117.12 2. 07/02/24: $165.58 3. 07/04/24: $206.41 4. 07/07/24: $139.94 5. 07/08/24: $204.27 6. 07/09/24: $57.11 7. 07/10/24: $38.11 8. 07/13/24: $59.80 9. 07/14/24: $58.90 10. 07/15/24: $ 38.64 11. 07/16/24: $40.12 12. 07/22/24: $63.11 13. 07/23/24: $39.72 14. 07/24/24: $51.19 15. 07/26/24: $47.02 16. 07/28/24: $65.07 Further review of the security camera footage shows that the Defendant went to Coborn’s on two occasions without T. J. H. And stole merchandise: 1. 07/16/24: $13.87 2. 07/17/24: $49.62 On these occasions, the Defendant arrived at the Coborn’s in a vehicle with unidentified individuals.
The Defendant would enter the Coborn’s through the Little Duke’s entrance on her own, and the people with her 2 71-CR-26-346 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 3/27/2026 would stay in the car. She then walked through the Little Dukes and onto the Coborn’s sales floor where she’d select a few items, walk balk through the Little Duke’s, exit the store, unload the unpaid merchandise into the vehicle, and leave the premises without paying for the items. With these two additional incidents, the Defendant stole a total of $1,455.60 in merchandise from Coborn’s between June 30, 2024 and July 28, 2024. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
