On or about March 10, 2026, detectives with the Rochester Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Elton Hills Dr. NW, in Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota. The warrant also allowed for the search of Cody Allen Ambrose, [DOB REDACTED] (hereinafter “Defendant”). Detectives located Defendant driving a vehicle near the residence and attempted to stop him. Detective Matz followed Defendant until he stopped near the residence. Detective Matz stopped window to window with Defendant and displayed his badge to Defendant.
Defendant then drove away and struck another detective vehicle that was arriving in the area. Defendant then struck a second detective vehicle before hitting an apartment unit. Defendant’s vehicle then stopped moving. Detectives drew their firearms and ordered Defendant out of the vehicle. Defendant did not comply and was observed swallowing something. Detectives had to physically remove Defendant from the vehicle. Defendant was placed under arrest. Defendant stated that he had swallowed “candy” while in the vehicle.
The damage to the two squad cars and the apartment defendant hit is estimated at over $1,000. Detectives then executed the search warrant on Defendant’s residence. During the search, detectives located 1 pill and a small amount of suspected methamphetamine in Defendant’s room. The pill was identified as Buprenorphine (schedule-III controlled substance). The suspected methamphetamine field tested positive and weighed.3 gram. Defendant was previously convicted of Controlled Substance Crime in the Fifth Degree – Possession on 11/07/2023 in Court File No. 55-CR-23-5473. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
