On May 7, 2026, at approximately 10:49 P.M., police were on routine patrol near Dorothy Day, St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, when they observed a vehicle parked in the no parking zone. The vehicle was running and had been there approximately 30 minutes earlier when police passed it responding to another call. Police pulled up behind the vehicle and activated the squad’s emergency lights. Both female occupants were asleep. Officers woke them up and removed them from the vehicle. The driver initially provided police with a false name but was subsequently identified as LARESHA MARIE UTING – [DOB redacted]. UTING admitted to police that she was smoking fentanyl and reported that the remaining fentanyl was in her bag.
Police located a baggie containing suspected narcotics in UTING’s bag. The passenger initially gave police a false name and date of birth, which belong to a person who is deceased, but was subsequently identified as ALISHA MARIA WILSON – [DOB redacted]. WILSON told police that she was just sleeping in the vehicle. Eventually, she admitted that she was doing fentanyl with her friend. WILSON had active warrants for her arrest and was taken into custody. In a search incident to arrest, police found a piece of tinfoil containing burnt fentanyl in WILSON’s coat pocket.
In another pocket, police located a crumpled dollar bill, a piece of folded white paper, and a dime- sized balloon shaped package. WILSON told the officer that there were drugs inside all those items. During a search of the vehicle, a rolled-up piece of tinfoil was located in a backpack on the floorboard in front of where WILSON was sitting. Both were transported to Regions Hospital for evaluation. Following a Miranda advisory at Regions Hospital, WILSON nodded that she understood her rights but did not respond to the officer when asked for a verbal response following a second advisory.
Presumptive testing on the substance recovered from UTING’s bag yielded a positive result for cocaine and fentanyl with a net weight of 7.0 grams. Presumptive testing was conducted on the substances in the items recovered from WILSON with the following results: Item 4 (crumpled up dollar bill) yielded a positive result for fentanyl with a net weight of 0.44 grams. Item 5 (tied up purple glove) yielded a positive result for cocaine with a net weight of 0.14 grams. Items 7 (rolled up tinfoil found in backpack) yielded a positive result for fentanyl with a net weight of 0.19 grams.
