On December 2, 2025, Edina Police officers responded to a 911 call in the 1900 block of E. 86th Street, Edina, Hennepin County. Upon arrival, they met with three individuals, a fully identified female, Victim 1 herein, and two identified juvenile females, Victim 2, age 9, and Victim 3, age 11. Victim 1 reported that her son, FARAH GAMAL ABDI ([DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, has anger issues and when he is angry, he gets “really angry.” She also reported that he has anxiety, and panic attacks and refuses to get help – that he went to treatment for drugs earlier this year, and for 2 months was “nice” but then began demanding money and getting angry again.
Police spoke with all three victims. Victim 1 reported that Defendant demanded money for a video game. When Victim 1 explained there was no money on her credit card, Defendant grabbed a belt and said, “If you do not give me the card, I will choke you with the belt.” Victim 1 reported that Defendant also had a knife in his hand and threatened to cut her credit card during the incident. Victim 1 reported being very afraid. Victim 2 reported that her brother woke everyone in the apartment up, telling their mother (Victim 1) that he was going to choke her kids (Victims 2 and 3), and that if they called the police, he would kill them.
He also grabbed a knife and threatened to stab his mother. Victim 2 stayed in the hallway and saw Defendant with a knife but then hid in a closet with her sister. She reported feeling sad and scared. Victim 3 reported that Defendant had a belt in his hand and told their mother (Victim 1) that if she didn’t give him a game, he would choke the sisters. Then he had a knife in his hand and said that if he didn’t get the game he would “kill us.
